PSLD is a Center for Disability Studies and Services under the Institute for Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LP3M) of Universitas Brawijaya (UB). PSLD was established on March 19, 2012 primarily to fulfill the rights of people with disabilities where only one percent of people with disabilities in Indonesia are able to access higher education. PSLD ensures that UB provides inclusive services for all people with disabilities. The types of student disabilities in UB are hearing disability, speech disability, physical disability, visual disability, mental and psychosocial disability, and intellectual disability.
There are physical and non-physical facilities for people with disabilities in UB. For physical facilities, they are guiding blocks, frames, elevators, mobility services, disabled bathrooms, and so on. As for non-physical facilities, they are companions for students with disabilities, consultation, sign language, book digitization, inclusive teaching training for lecturers, inclusive service training for employees, inclusive PSLD website, and video captioning.
