Vision

“To Be a Pioneering and Innovative University with an International Reputation of Science and Technology Advancements that Form the Basis of Culture-Based Industries for Community’s Welfare”

Missions

Universitas Brawijaya’s missions are:

  1. Provide graduates with international standard education that instills in them belief in Almighty God and religious piety, noble character, self-reliance, professionalism, and entrepreneurial spirit;
  2. Play the role of university as an agent of renewal, a pioneer and disseminator of science, technology, arts and humanities, as well as a force of the nation’s economic development based on the values of noble local wisdom; and
  3. Implement superior, equitable, and sustainable higher education governance.

Objectives

Each mission has objectives that guide the implementation of the vision and missions, namely:

  1. Instill in graduates the following attributes: academic ability, entrepreneurial spirit, professionalism, self-reliance, work ethic, discipline, noble character, and techno-savviness so as to successfully compete and excel at the national and international levels;
  2. Produce innovative works in technology, arts, social science, and culture that build the nation’s economy and self-reliance based on noble cultural values, that are useful and superior at the national and international levels;
  3. Create a higher education environment that is friendly, competitive, excellent, and high-tech, so that it can develop each individual’s potential of the academic stakeholders; and
  4. Accomplish an accountable, effective, efficient, up-to-date, and integrated higher education governance that can compete at the national and international levels.
    Every mission formulated in the UB’s mid-term development plan is translated into objectives and targets which will later direct target achievements in each period.

Strategic Targets

In realizing each of its missions, UB Strategic Plan formulates strategic targets as follows:

  1. Mission 1: “International standard education” with the following targets:
    1. Establish study programs that are competitive but with UB distinctive characters and embodiment of the Free Campus concept; SS-1
    2. Create independent, innovative, and applicable learning processes using latest technology; SS-2
    3. Produce competitive students; SS-3 and
    4. Produce competitive alumni. SS-4
  2. Mission 2: “an agent of renewal, a pioneer and disseminator of science, technology, arts and humanities, as well as a force of the nation’s economic development” with the following targets:
    1. Increase the utilization of research results and community services by the industry and community groups; SS-5
    2. Increase the quality of research results and community services for entrepreneurship development; SS-6
    3. Establish cooperation followed up with the development activities of economic and socio-cultural innovations; SS-7 and
    4. To create integrated planning-based institutional management. SS-8
  3. Mission 3: “performing superior, equitable, and sustainable higher education governance” with the following targets:
    1. Build academic stakeholders who are independent, autonomous and self-directed; SS-9
    2. Procure facilities and infrastructure for education, research, and community services, which are equipped with the latest technology and support the sustainability of UB management and environment; SS-10
    3. Provide a quality and integrated information system connecting education, finance, asset management, performance, etc.; SS-11
    4. Build an integrated financial management system that ensures transparency and  accountability; SS-12
    5. Build independent and competitive business units; SS-13
    6. Increase funding from the Endowment Fund management; SS-14 and
    7. Realize efficient organizational governance. SS-1
